Forklift Attachments Nevada - Nevada is a state located within the mountain west, southwestern and western regions of the United States. With an area of 286,350 km2 or 110,561 square miles, and a population of approximately 2.7 million, it is the 7th-largest and 35th-most densely inhabited state. More than two-thirds of Nevada's inhabitants reside within the Las Vegas metropolitan area, which contains its three largest incorporated cities. Carson City is the capital of Nevada State.

Nevada is mostly semiarid and desert, with much of it situated in the Great Basin. Areas south of the Great Basin are located in the Mojave Desert, whereas Lake Tahoe and the Sierra Nevada mountains lie on the western edge. Around 86 percent of Nevada's land is owned by the US government under different jurisdictions, both civilian and military.

"Nevada" is a name that came from the Sierra Nevada Mountains, that in Spanish translates to "snow-capped mountain range." Prior to European contact, the land that makes up current day state of Nevada was populated by the Native American tribes: the Paiute, Shoshone, and Washoe. It was then claimed by Spain as a part of Alta California until the Mexican War of Independence brought it under Mexican control. The United States gained the territory in 1848 following its victory in the Mexican-American War and the area was eventually incorporated as part of Utah Territory in the year 1850. The discovery of silver at the Comstock Lode in the year 1859 led to a population boom which was an impetus to the creation of Nevada Territory out of western Utah Territory during the year 1861. Nevada became the 36th state on the 31st of October, the year 1864.

The state of Nevada legalized gambling and lenient marriage and divorce proceedings during the 20th century, helping to grow the state into a main tourist destination. The tourism industry remains the state's largest business, with mining continuing to be a substantial sector of the economy since Nevada is the world's fourth biggest producer of gold.

The state of Nevada is referred to as the "Silver State," owing to the states dependence upon silver in both its history and its current economy. It is likewise referred to as the "Battle Born State" because it achieved statehood during the Civil War and the "Sagebrush State" for the native eponymous plant.

Nevada State has an estimated in the year 2010, a total state product of $126 billion, according to the Bureau of Economic Analysis. The resorts and resort areas of Las Vegas, Reno, Lake Tahoe, and Laughlin attract millions of tourists to Nevada State. During FY08 the total of 266 casinos with gaming revenue more than $1m for the year, brought in revenue of $12 billion in gaming revenue, and $13 billion in non-gaming revenue.
