 Forklift Attachments Hialeah - The city of Hialeah's name has been attributed to Muskogee origin. It has been believed to translate to "pretty prairie," by using the words "Hili" for pretty and "Haiyakpo" for prairie. The word itself is said to be of Seminole origin, meaning "Upland Prairie."
The city of Hialeah is situated upon a large prairie, in between the Biscayne bay and the Everglades. It is a city in the Miami-Dade County within Florida State. The population of the city of Hialeah was around 226,400 as of the 2000 census. In the year 2009, the U.S. Census Bureau estimated that the population of the city of Hialeah had become reduced to approximately 218,900. It is a major municipality of Greater Miami and South Florida and was the 6th largest city within Florida State at that time. With a population density of over 10,000/sq mile, it is the 10th biggest city in the USA.
The explanation of the name Hialeah, by the Seminole translates to "High Prairie" and evokes a picture of the pretty grassy plains the native Indians used to dock their canoes on when coming in from the everglades. It was in this particular location that they will show their stuff for sale and trade for the newcomers from Miami. In the year 1921, Missouri cattleman James H. Bright and pioneer aviator Glen Curtiss thought that the region had great potential.
Hialeah is probably the most dense city within the country when it comes to population which does not have a tall building. The city of Hialeah also has the 2nd highest percentage of Cuban and Cuban American residents of any city within the United States. Hialeah is home to various retailers like for example: Target, Starbucks, Walmart, Kohl's, The Home Depot, Lowe's and Best Buy. It is the commercial center in Miami-Dade County. The city of Hialeah is also home to some famous homegrown companies such as Sedano's and Navarro.
The city of Hialeah is home to a variety of mom and pop stores that add a vibrant flare to the community. These stores successfully and actively compete alongside the outfitters, national franchises and name brand retailers. National companies have changed their traditional business plan to be able to fit into the demands of the local economy in order to remain competitive. For example a Publix Sabor was opened by Publix supermarkets. This location is found along one of the main streets within the city of Hialeah and caters mostly to Hispanic and Latin American clients.
Hialeah was made into an industrial city in the 1970s and the 1980s through businesses of cloth and manufacturing. However, most of these organizations have long disappeared. The local economy has been revitalized with several technology businesses and new electronics.
Westland Mall within Westfield Westland, houses more than 100 retail stores for residents and visitors to enjoy. Some of the major anchor stores here comprise Sears, Macy's and J.C. Penney. Popular places to eat comprise Edy's, Chili's, McDonald's, Manchu Wok and Fuddrucker's.
Hialeah provides easy access to the entertainment and arts options found in Miami and the larger South Florida metropolitan area. In the vicinity, there are a lot of parks and cultural resources.
