Forklift Attachments Thornton - Thornton, Colorado is located within both Weld and Adams counties. Officially, it is a suburb of the Denver-Aurora-Broomfield, CO Metropolitan Statistical Area. Approximately 10 miles southwest of Thornton lies the capital of the state, the city of Denver. The population was recorded by the United States Census Bureau as being around 118,770 on April 1, 2010. This is a 44.2% increase from the year 2000 census, where the population was roughly 82,380. Thornton is the 6th most populous city within Colorado and the 213th most populated city in the country.

Thornton was literally nothing more than farmland until the year 1953. During that year, Sam Hoffman bought a piece of land just outside Denver in which he laid plans for a community. It was the first of its kind within Adams County, as well as the very first which provided complete municipal services off a single tax levy. The name of the city was selected in order to honor Former Colorado Governor Dan Thornton.

The Thornton community Association (TCA) was formed to help guide the community through its development. There were nearly 5,500 people lived within the city of Thornton within about 1,200 houses during 1955. During the year 1956 Thornton was incorporated, due mainly in part to the TCA. The first mayor of the city was a City Council candidate, G. Leary. Brian Thornton, is unrelated to the Governor.

Situated all over the city of Thornton are 80 parks covering 2,000 acres of land. There are also numerous running and biking trails all around Thornton. Combined together they stretch over 80 miles. There are some recreational complexes in Thornton, like for example the Thornton Community Center and the Margaret Carpenter Recreation Center. There are also three main golf courses within the city of Thornton: Thorncreek Golf Course, Heritage Todd Creek Golf Club, and Riverdale Knolls Golf Course.

There are several historic sites that are situated within the nearby city of Denver, like for instance the Colorado Governor's Mansion, the Denver Mint and the Colorado State Capitol. Furthermore, there is the Forney Museum of Transportation, which showcases an assortment of antique automobiles, carriages, bicycles, and trains. Some of the other attractions nearby consist of Grasmer Lake and Holly Park, Park Hill Golf park and Denver Zoo. In September, Thornton hosts the Harvest Fest and the Winterfest in the month of December.
