 Forklift Attachments Evansville - The city of Evansville, Indiana is the third largest city in the state and is located in the southern part of Indiana. The city currently boasts a population of more than 117,000 individuals, according to the 2010 census. Evansville is the county seat of Vanderburgh County. Furthermore, it is the regional hub for the Illinois-Kentucky Tri-State-Indiana Area. A population estimate taken in 2008 put the Evansville Metropolitan Statistical Area at 350,261 people. The city is located within the southwestern corner of the state of Indiana.
The city of Evansville is located on a mild horseshoe bend on the Ohio River. The township was settled during the year 1812 and it has been known as "River City." The Casino Aztar is one of the most famous attractions within the region. It is the first riverboat casino in the state. The University of Southern Indiana and the University of Evansville are both located here.
Hugh McGary Jr. was responsible for first settling the area in 1812. In 1817, the city of Evansville was laid out with the assistance of a territorial legislator and local attorney General Robert M. Evans. This was for whom the community was named. Evansville became integrated as a city during the year 1847. Immediately after, the Evansville & Crawfordsville Railroad, the first railroad within the region became established.
As the middle of the 20th century arrived, the city of Evansville had become a major industrial center. By the latter part of the century, Evansville had transformed itself into a medical center and a regional commercial center. In the year 1995, the city's economy received a huge boost after the Casino Aztar opened. The associated entertainment facility consists of many shops, a nearby entertainment district, a 1,660 vehicle parking garage, a 250 room hotel and various restaurants.
As a regional trade centre, the city of Evansville's trade area grew to consist of much of Kentucky, Indiana and Illinois. The region has a broad economic base which has helped to make certain that the strong economy based on stability, vitality and diversity continues that way for many decades to come. There are a lot of industries in the area today such as distribution and warehousing, manufacturing, retailing, health care, finance and business services. The metropolitan area was ranked 88th in the country in 2007 in terms of economic impact and overall growth.
Companies like for instance Berry Plastics, Old National Bank, Accuride, Atlas Van Lines, Shoe carnival, mead Johnson and Vectren have their corporate head office in the region. In addition, Evansville is home to Springleaf Financial Services, a former division of AIG. Significant manufacturing operations within the city of Evansville include Alcoa in Newburgh, AK Steel within Rockport, SABIC within Mount Vernon and Toyota Within Princeton.
