Forklift Attachments Mississippi

Forklift Attachments Mississippi - Mississippi is a U.S. state located in the Southern United States. Jackson is the state capital and largest city. The name of the state derives from the Mississippi River, that flows along its western boundary, whose name comes from the Ojibwe word misi-ziibi which means the "Great River." Mississippi is heavily forested outside of the Mississippi Delta area, that had been cleared for cotton cultivation during the 19th century. These days its catfish aquaculture farms produce the majority of farm-raised catfish consumed in the country. The magnolia grandiflora tree is the state symbol.

The state of Mississippi is bounded by the state of Tennessee towards the north, Alabama to the east, and Louisiana to the south. There is a small narrow coast on the Gulf of Mexico that borders the state, whilst the states of Arkansas and Louisiana sit across the Mississippi River.

In addition to the Mississippi River, the other major tributaries include: the Big Black River, the Pearl River, the Yazoo River, the Tombigbee River and the Pascagoula River. Major lakes include Ross Barnett Reservoir, Arkabutla Lake, Sardis Lake and Grenada Lake. Grenada Lake is the biggest lake in Mississippi.

The state of Mississippi is completely composed of lowlands, the highest point being Woodall Mountain, in the foothills of the Cumberland Mountains, 246m or 806 feet above sea level. The lowest point is sea level at the Gulf coast. The mean elevation within the state of Mississippi is 300 feet (91 m) above sea level.

The majority of Mississippi is part of the East Gulf Coastal Plain. The Coastal Plain is generally composed of low hills, like for example the Pine Hills in the south and the North Central Hills. The Fall Line Hills and the Pontotoc Ridge in the northeast have fairly higher elevations. Yellow-brown loess soil is found within the western parts of the state. The northeast is a region of fertile black earth which extends into the Alabama Black Belt.

On August 30, the year 2007, a report by the United States Census Bureau indicated that Mississippi was the poorest state within the United States. Numerous cotton farmers in the Delta have large, mechanized plantations, a few of which receive extensive Federal subsidies, yet several other inhabitants still live as rural, landless, poor laborers. Out of $1.2 billion from 2002-2005 in Federal subsidies to farmers within the Bolivar County area of the Delta, five percent went to small farmers. There has been little money apportioned for rural development. Small towns are struggling. Over 100,000 individuals have left the area in search of work elsewhere. The state of Mississippi had a median household income of $34,473.

Mississippi still ranks as the second highest ratio of spending over all other states, despite the fact that Mississippi's fiscal conservatism, like for example in the social programs of welfare, food stamps and Medicaid are usually cut, with the eligibility requirements are being tightened, and stricter employment criteria are imposed. In 2005, Mississippi citizens were given about $2.02 per dollar of taxes in the way of federal spending. This ranks the state 2nd highest nationally, and represents an increase from 1995, when the state of Mississippi received $1.54 per dollar of taxes in federal spending and was 3rd highest nationally.
