 Forklift Attachments Provo - The city of Provo, Utah is located nearly 70 km south of the states largest city, Salt Lake City. Provo is located along the Wasatch Front, which is a long chain of towns and cities situated to the west of the Wasatch mountains. Provo serves as the county seat of Utah County and the principal city within the Provo-Orem metropolitan area population of 526,810. It is the 3rd largest metro area in Utah State after Odgen-Clearfield and Salt Lake City.
The city of Provo was named after a French-Canadian, Etienne Provost who explored the area during 1825. The Mormons created a community here during the late 1840s and the city of Provo was incorporated during the year 1849. Because of its large quantity of fruit orchards and gardens, the city of Provo was called the "Garden City". Brigham Young Academy was founded in Provo during the year 1875. Later on, the academy became Brigham Young University (BYU), the country's largest church-affiliated university. The university has been extremely essential to Provo. They have been growing hand-in-hand, encouraging nationally important sports and academic programs and a local high-technology industry.
The city of Provo hosts several local celebrations, the largest of which is America's Freedom Festival. It is amongst the largest celebrations of American Independence within the country, with over 30 events taking place during 21 days prior to and including the 4th of July. The Stadium of Fire Spectacular is the climax of the event, held at BYU's Cougar Stadium. One more main celebration is the yearly WinterFest, a series of events which begins with the December Christmas Parade in downtown Provo and ending with a Firework Finale on the Eve of New year.
The economy of the Provo region is diversified. The area has several software technology companies. Software businesses located in the Provo region including the well-known Symantec, Corel and Novell, Inc. Some of the high tech companies situated within the area are Ameritech Library Services, Covergys, Micron Technology, PowerQuest Corp., Nimbus Manufacturing, Folio Corporation and Viewsoft. The area also has several biotech companies.
