 Forklift Attachments Carrollton - Carrollton City is situated roughly eighteen miles north of the city of Dallas on the Interstate Highway I-35. It is surrounded by several Texas communities; Farmer's branch to the south, Coppell to the west and Addison to the east. Due to its central location, it is part of three Texas counties: Denton, Dallas and Collin. The city of Carrollton is technically a suburb of Dallas and as such is considered a part of the Dallas-Fort Worth metropolitan area. The Texas State Highways 121 and 190 likewise service Carrollton.
The name of Carrollton, is believed to have come from Carrollton, Illinois, that was the birthplace of the cities earliest settlers. Carrollton, Texas was initially settled in the year 1840 and was officially incorporated by 1913. In the beginning it was exclusively an agricultural community, but when the railway lines ran through Carrollton City during 1888 it became a shipping hub for grain, livestock, cottonseed, gravel and cotton. Carrollton City grew significantly at the end of WWII World War II and was later enhanced by the surplus of individuals arriving from North Dallas.
Carrollton City attracts a wide variety of different companies due to it's business cost advantages and central location. Over 5,000 companies are located in the city of Carrollton with most of them being involved with manufacturing, construction and wholesale trades, finance, insurance, or real estate.
The city of Carrollton has one of the highest park land per capita in the area with over 1,230 acres of developed park land. For its residents, the city of Carrollton offers various amenities, including two swimming facilities, two recreation centers, a senior center, homestead museum, tennis center, and an amphitheater. There are some playing fields, playgrounds, hiking and biking trails, and picnic areas littered all over the city. Carrollton boasts two of the top municipal golf courses within the state.
The economy is kept relatively stable due to its diversified and large economic base. More than 71,000 individuals are currently employed in the workforce. Carrollton is home to several small business enterprises, that creates an entrepreneurial community.
In Carrollton City; there are some world class museums and art galleries, an opera, a theater, a ballet and a symphony. 60 acres are devoted purely to the Dallas Arts District, making it the biggest downtown arts district in the United States.
Over fifty different lakes and about 100 private and public golf courses sit within a 100-mile radius of Carrollton.
There are several unique boutiques within the city of Carrollton which sell an eclectic assortment of gifts. In addition, there are over twenty five major shopping malls and 30 antique districts situated within the city. There are also several malls close by, like for example Dallas Galleria, The Shops at Willow bend and the Stonebriar Mall. As well, the 1.9 million square foot Grapevine Mills Outlet mall is located nearby.
