The growth over the past 30 years in Antioch has surged, and the population will continue to grow as real estate in the larger cities becomes increasingly costly. People simply can't afford to reside in the bigger cities and opt to move to a more inexpensive community on the outskirts of the Bay Area instead.
Boating is extremely popular in Antioch, and because of this there are numerous private marinas, yacht clubs, and boatyards littered through the city, along with a municipal marina. Located right in town is a public fishing pier, and there is one more located close to the Antioch Bridge. Situated upstream from Antioch Bridge is the San Joaquin River, which is likewise considered a prime fishing spot.
The main provider of public transportation in the Antioch area is Tri-Delta Transit, even if the County Connection bus 930 also connects and goes to Mitchell Park n' Ride, Railroad Castlewood, John Muir Medical Center, Hillcrest Park n' Ride and Delta Fair Sommersville. The two main stations that could be found in this area are the Antioch-Pittsburgh Amtrak station and Pittsburgh/Bay Point Station in Pittsburgh. Access to Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) is situated at the Pittsburgh/Bay Point Station.
