 Forklift Attachments Gresham - Gresham is a city in the state of Oregon. The fourth largest city within Oregon State with over 105,000 inhabitants and is situated east of Portland within the County of Multnomah.
The community was initially known as a campground for pioneers who were heading out towards Portland and the Willamette Valley. The city was not able to receive its status until it first established a postal code and post office. A store was offered as a post office by a local business man and suggested that the city be named after Postmaster General Walter Quinton Gresham, who was likewise an American Civil War general. During 1884, the post office was established, and in 1905 Gresham was incorporated as a city with its first mayor, Lewis Shattuck.
The residents of Gresham have recognized that art is an important part of their community. The city has been able to attract and grow a lot of artists who have built a vibrant local arts scene. City Hall is a focal point of cultural activity, with public art exhibitions regularly. The city's artists are supported by the local government by acquiring art from local artists and providing gallery space.
The Gresham Art Walk, held every year in the city, features nearly 100 artists from throughout southwest Washington and Oregon. The tourists come from all around to enjoy the live music while being able to meet many of the artists. They also come to browse the locally produced paintings, pottery, beadwork, photography, textiles and glass work. The city's downtown has several one-of-a-kind farmers markets and boutiques. Shoppers have access to 50 nationally known shops and restaurants at Gresham Station.
Gresham area outdoor activities consist of the Mt. Hood National Forest and the scenic Columbia River Gorge. The Columbia Gorge National Scenic Area is a 130 km passageway which formed during the Missoula floods around 13,000 to 15,000 years ago. Outdoor fanatics could enjoy the following activities at the Gorge: camping, swimming, fishing, hiking, birding, wildlife viewing, photography, boating, picnicking, rock climbing, mountain biking and windsurfing.
