The local timber industry's presence in the country
The Malaysian Timber Council (MTC) will mount a marketing mission to the US for members of the Malaysian timber industry from Nov 10-16, 2014 to exploit opportunities and strengthen the local timber industry's presence in the country.
"The mission is held in conjunction with the coming North American Wholesale Lumber Association 2014 Traders Market, which is one of the largest annual gatherings of buyers and sellers in the North American lumber industry," it said in a statement here Monday.
MTC said the trade show, which would be held in Chicago, Illinois, was expected to gather over 1,500 wholesalers, manufacturers, suppliers and service providers from North America and across the globe," it said.
The council said the US continued to dominate the global timber import industry and has remained one of the top three export markets for Malaysian timber products since 1995.
"The council sees further potential for growth, given the resilience of the US economy, as well as its high per capita income and sizeable population," it said.
