Duties of a Forklift Operator
The most common area for forklift operators to be employed are in warehouses and factories. Their tasks will comprise the lifting and moving of supplies and loads from one area to another. They should be trained to safely use the forklift controls. Specialized training is a requirement. Operators should have a background check and pass a drug test.

Performing Inspections
The Occupational Safety and Health Administration requires that all forklift drivers perform a daily pre-shift lift truck check. Forklift operator training must comprise the proper performance of safety checks to assure optimum functionality. An inspection must also be done at the end of each shift. Regular safety training should be undertaken each and every year.

Unloading and Loading
Forklift operators perform tasks related to loading and unloading supplies in a timely and safe way. This job also includes the organized stacking of supplies so they are accessible.

The duties of a lift truck driver could include weighing the materials that are being transported and recording the weights.

Quality Control
The driver of the lift truck would be in charge of quality control. They have to make sure orders are correct and that products do not sustain damage during transportation inside the warehouse.

Safety Awareness
A responsible lift truck driver must have excellent skills in attention and awareness to safety. Operators should exhibit a high level of concern for the safety of both employees and pedestrians. The operator should find the safest way to handle challenges, such as navigating a steep surface with a load. The driver must determine the safest route to take. An operator's training would include learning about the elements that could cause a lift truck to tip over. The driver has to be extremely familiar with the design and safety ratings of the forklift unit that they are operating. A forklift driver should be sensitive to the need for breaks to avoid exhaustion. Mishaps associated to forklifts are more likely to take place when an operator is exhausted.
