In the material handling industry counterbalance forklifts are really common pieces of equipment. They could be commonly found in factories and warehouses all over the world. The leading lift truck producers like for instance Mitsubishi, Linde and Toyota all create counterbalance lift trucks. They are obtainable in various fuel alternatives like for example diesel, electric or gas. Typically, a counterbalanced forklift truck includes the following components:
The Cab is the section that has a seat designed for the person operating it and houses the steering wheel, a dashboard containing operator readouts, control pedals, levers plus various switches. The Truck Frame is the foundation of the machine that each of the other parts, the axles, wheels, power source, mast and counterweight are all connected to. The frame may even have hydraulic fluid tanks and fuel tanks constructed as part of its assembly. The Mast is the vertical assembly that does most of the work raising and lowering the forklift's load.
Constructed of heavy iron the counterweight is attached to the back of the forklift frame. The purpose of the counterweight is to balance all the load being lifted and moved. With an electric lift truck, the large lead-acid battery itself can serve as part of or all of the counterweight. The Power Supply can have an internal combustion engine which can be powered by diesel, gasoline, LP gas or CNG gas. Electric lift trucks are driven by either fuel cells that provide power to electric motors or a battery. The electric motors may be either AC or DC kinds.
Fork accessories are different types of material handling attachments that are presented consisting of pole handlers, side shifters, multipurpose clams, carton clamps, slip-sheet attachments, fork positioners, roll clamps, container handlers and carpet poles.
When needing to park pallets closely together, the counterbalance lift truck is the ideal electric lift intended for the task. There are lots of advantages to utilizing a counterbalance lift rather than fork-over and straddle-leg designs. They do have some disadvantages however. A counterbalanced lift truck can lift pallets straight off the floor because there are no stabilization legs to interfere. The main disadvantage of this particular unit of forklift is that the weight capacity and lift height will usually be less than the different styles.
